Bob Pallat

Karen and I are both Maple Heights graduates.  Karen (Novak) graduated the following year (1965)  We started dating during my senior year.  I joined the Navy and we kept in touch via mail  I proposed via a telephone conversation from a USO phone booth, and we married in 1965 after she graduated.  We are both retired from our civilian occupation.  I retired from the Mentor Police Department, and she from the Cuyahoga County Public Defenders.  When we were both back home in Ohio and the children were older, I joined the Navy Reserves in 1985 and Karen joined in 1987.  We are both Chief Petty Officers.  I am with a Guided Missile Frigate Support unit, of which I've done several extended active duty deployments.  Karen has been with a JAG unit, and likewise has done several active duty extended deployments.  Our daughter, Tamara, is married to Dave Thompson and they live in Garfield Heights.  My son Rob is on active duty in the Navy and is on shore rotation from the USS ENTERPRISE, and is now at China Lake, CA.
